Music lodged itself in Sarah Dorna's soul at a very young age. She sang at school and in the Junior Choir, and later the Adult Choir, at Trinity-by-the-Cove Episcopal Church. Her love of music was evident as she would listen to classic musicals on her record player for hours.
Under the instruction of Judy Evans, Sarah picked up the violin at the age of ten and has found the instrument to be a source of joy ever since. Playing by ear, by sight, by memory, and eventually by improvisation and original compositions, music quickly overtook other activities as her preferred form of entertainment.
As a tribute to her beloved late Grandma, young Sarah began sharing her musical gift with the elderly at senior living communities, which she still does to this day. Sarah played the violin at Davidson College, continued her studies under violinist Leslie Taylor from Artis-Naples, and later chose to make musical performance her
primary career.
As a professional, Sarah has played as a solo artist and has accompanied pianists, guitarists, and vocalists at restaurants and senior living communities. She has given concerts and provided background music for benefits, grand openings, open houses, corporate and private parties, weddings, anniversaries, dinner serenades, church services, memorial services, birthdays, and a myriad of special occasions. Some unique volunteer performance settings have included a Picnic Time for Teddy Bears and Little Ones, a Super Bowl Party, and The Ladies' Club for the Alzheimer's Support Network. Sharing her gift of music, Sarah also provides violin lessons to beginners.
